How to Save Real Money When Shopping for a Used Car from a Private Seller

Author: Bruce Hokin

Apart from your home, this can be one of the largest financial expenditures and therefore one of the most important to your financial well-being. If you can learn a few rules and remember some proven tips then this can be an enjoyable experience. Here's how.

There are a few major items to check out when buying any used car from private sellers and they are listed below. Follow these guidelines BEFORE you pay the deposit and you will reduce your chances of buying a headache. You want this car to run cheaply, keep its resale value, be reliable and look good. Ready to start?

Look over the car generally first. If you think it is suitable, follow these steps.

Check the Title.

It is no use paying good money for what seems to be a bargain, when in a few weeks or months the car is repossessed due to unpaid debts attached to it. There are several ways to check this out depending on your local circumstances:

1. Check the owner details with your local or state government agency and whether there is money still owed on the vehicle.
2. Some agencies can also advise whether the car has been written off or wrecked, and then rebuilt. Definitely stay away from a car that has been "reborn" since your resale value will suffer when you try to sell it eventually.

Check the Authenticity.

1. Look at the Registration papers and ensure that the registration plates, the chassis number or vehicle identification number and engine number are EXACTLY the same as the Registration details.

2. In older cars look at the chassis number on the car and ensure it has not been tampered with. Make sure it looks genuine - not extra clean and just repainted. This could mean that the number has been tampered with by grinding off the old number and replacing it with a new one. Stay right away from a car in this condition.

3. If the car has log books and/or owners purchase papers all the better. Look through them carefully and check these details against the answers you receive from the questions you ask in 4.).

4. Talk to the owner(s) and ask the following questions. If you notice hesitancy or you think they may not be genuine be very, very careful.
a) How long have you owned the car?
b) Do you know any of the car's history prior to your purchase?
c) To your knowledge, are the miles or kilometers genuine?
d) What repairs or work have you had done to the car? Do you have receipts for the work?

Check the Car Body

1. Look for rust. This is the major risk when buying second-hand cars. If you are not sure how to do this have a qualified panel-beater or rust repairer check it out. If you want to do this yourself look for the telltale signs of bubbles under the paint or brown/orange color in the following areas:

a) Under the mudguards or fenders.
b) Around each door, especially under the door.
c) In the floor. Lift the mats and carpets if you can, and check out carefully.
d) Around the windscreen, where it meets the body.
e) Around the roof, especially in the gutters.

2. Look for panel damage and/or repair. Do the panels match properly? Is the paint color consistent on every panel? Has the whole car been repainted recently? If it has had a recent paint job, what is it covering? It could be covering cheap rust repair or panel work.

3. Look under the car. Is it straight and clean? If it's very dirty and the under floor is bent out of shape it could mean the car has had a hard life off the normal roads. This could mean extra stress on steering and suspension components.

4. Look at the paint color. The most serviceable color, and best for resale generally, is white. Darker colors may look good but they show the dirt more and are harder to match if you need minor panel repairs.

Check the Motor.

1. If you are not sure how to do this, have a qualified motor mechanic or your road service organization check it out. If you want to do this yourself look in the following areas:

a) Does the car blow smoke at start up?
b) Is the motor very oily and dirty? Does it look too clean, just washed?
c) Does under the oil filler cap look like the oil is a milky mixture, not black?
d) Does the radiator show bubbles being formed in the water when the motor is running?
e) Are the other fluid levels low?
If any of these problems show up then you may need some more expert help.

Check the Gearbox.

1. Again, if you are not sure how to do this have a qualified motor mechanic or your road service organization check it out. If you want to do this yourself look in the following areas:

Automatics -
a) Is the oil level on the dipstick correct and clean?
b) Does it change gears correctly when driven?
c) Is the gearbox clean and not showing oil leaks?
d) Does it sound OK when being driven or is there a whine at certain speeds?
If you cannot say Yes to these questions you may need some expert help.

Manuals -
a) Is the gearbox clean and not showing oil leaks?
b) Does it sound OK when being driven or is there a whine at certain speeds?
c) Is the gear change smooth and quiet?
d) Does the clutch work properly, with no shuddering at take-off?
If you cannot say Yes to these questions you may need some expert help.

Check the Interior.

Look for these potential problems.

a) Always check upholstery under seat covers - no matter how nice they look.
b) Look for seat belt wear.
c) Do all the gauges and controls work properly?
d) Is the headlining in place correctly, not dropping or coming undone?
e) Does it look cared for, or has it been neglected?

There are other components such as suspension, brakes, air-conditioning and steering that can also cost significant amounts of money to repair or replace, but these are usually serviced by experts.

These are just some basic checks that you can do when looking to buy a used car. Use your common sense. Keep in mind, as with any private purchase, Buyer Beware. If you think you are out of your depth in any of these major areas, it may be better to have the vehicle checked by an expert.

These are just some general tips and hints from my experiences in buying and selling cars over a long period of time. I am passing them on to you to help you with your personal finances. You need to be able to save money wherever you can.

For hints on how to bargain when buying a used car from a private seller see my other article titled "How to Save Real Money When Bargaining With a Private Seller for a Used Car".

Car shipping Steps

Author: Mercys

The car shipping tips that help you to understand more about the steps, which are involved in car shipping like price, payment method, contract etc.,

The following car shipping tips will help you to understand more about the steps that are involved in car shipping.

1. Price. The first question you would want ask is "what is the total cost?” Obtain quotes from few car transport and auto drive away companies and then be prepared to provide:

Origination and destination
Approximate exit date
Type of vehicle(s)
Type of car transport service that is desired
Special car transport services if any

2. Payment method. While some car shipping and auto drive away companies might not need payment in advance, others need a deposit (10-25% of the total cost), or full sum in advance. If a deposit is given, sum due is always necessary at time of delivery – frequently with a cashiers ensure or cash. Sometimes a surcharge of 2-3% is necessary when using a credit card with a car transport or auto drive away company.

3. Contract. Read your contract carefully! It is important note! Do not rely on any vocal promises from your car convey company. Ask for a contract clause (in writing) that surrenders the cancellation fee if the car is not picked up by your car transport business within some number of days of the planned pickup date. If you cancel within the allotted window, expect to pay some fee that might differ from $50 to $250. Although most cars are picked up on the planned to date or within a few days of that date, a 1 or 2 week wait may sporadically happen. Your cancellation part should allow for at least a week ahead of planned pickup date.

4. Insurance. Your vehicle(s) need to be insured against damage and theft by your car transport company or any auto drive away. Ask for a real copy of insurance policy coverage. Ask if the carrier's insurance coverage is primary or secondary to your own insurance in the affair of damage during car transport. Also ask if there is damage deductible – validate all in writing. Also note, which congestion your stalk with heavy items might result in damage to your car's undercarriage.

5. Saying goodbye to your car. Prior to departure your car with a driver or car transport company, be certain you get an "creative check report." this report gives pick-up and discharge information, current mileage, and most prominently shows the condition of your car at time of spontaneous, pre-existing scraped and dents, cracked glass/mirrors, universal coat condition, etc. keep this report and use it when you obtain your vehicle.

5 Tips To Save Big On Your Next Car Loan

Author: Scott Conklin

And, when you go through the dealer for your auto loan, the sales rep wants a long-term relationship with you. This motivates them to work harder to get the best rate possible for you. In contrast, an online or off-site lender’s interests begin and end with the loan

By: Scott Conklin

If you think about it, the most grueling part of the car-buying process, after agreeing on a price, is acquiring the right kind of loan for your new or used car. Most consumers enter the car dealership completely unprepared for the loan application process, and that lack of knowledge and planning is costing them millions of dollars every year.

If you want to create a win-win situation for you and the car dealership you purchase your car from, there are five steps to take before you sit down at the negotiation table: get your credit report, surf before buying, go local, speak the language and be prepared to negotiate.

1.) Get Your Credit Report

You can’t pick up a personal finance article, magazine or book that does not refer to the importance of knowing what is on your credit report. Despite the fact that modern media has been beating us over the head with this advice for the past couple of decades, most people do not know their credit score or check their credit report on a regular basis. You can get a copy of your report by directly contacting the three credit bureaus: Equifax, TransUnion and Experian (formerly TRW).

Not knowing your credit score and the details of your credit report before applying for a car loan is a monumental mistake. You want to have any blemishes on your report resolved before you apply for a car loan, because the results of your lender’s credit inquiry directly impact your interest rate.

Your credit report includes: basic information about you – name, address, social security number, etc.; your late payments, any outstanding debts you have, the amount of credit available to you; any public records on you such as judgments and bankruptcies; and inquiries into your credit from potential employers or lenders.

And just because you have caught up late payments, cleared outstanding debts or cleared up any judgments does not mean these blemishes are automatically removed from your credit report. Sometimes, you need to follow up with the creditors to make sure they report your reconciliation of debt to all three credit bureaus.

In addition, identity theft and/or fraud can result in false, unfavorable records on your credit report. In January 2006, the Federal Trade Commission reported that more than 686,000 people reported identity theft and fraud complaints in 2005. Stolen identity and fraud can result in major credit report issues.

2.) Surf Before Buying

You’ll be far less tempted to impulse buy, driving away from the car dealership with a car you can’t afford if you have established boundaries in your mind before you begin.

You can save big money on your car loan if you have a budget and type of car in mind before you go shopping. One easy way to accomplish this is to go online and check out different car dealership websites.

You can compare and contrast vehicle makes, models, styles, features and pricing.

3.) Go Local

There are many national auto websites, but did you know that many local car dealerships are now online as well? The advantage of working with a local car dealership can outweigh working with the manufacturer or a national website when you want the best in quality customer service, a relationship for the lifetime of your car and the best deal on your auto loan.

The advantages of getting a loan through a local dealership is similar to the reason every town in America has a locally-owned restaurant that has regulars: local businesses have a sincere investment in the community. That interest often leads to better customer service, a more customized approach to selling, and the ability to get you a better loan than you will receive from a lender who doesn’t know – or care – who you are.

Lastly, the local dealership may have more than one location, increasing your options for finding the car you need but offering the same uniform auto financing options. For example, Conklin Cars Salina, a car dealer in Kansas, is also a Hutchinson car dealer and a Newton car dealer. So, if a customer goes to one dealership and does not find what they need, they can visit another location and expect the same quality customer service.

4.) Speak the Language

There’s nothing more frustrating than going through the entire car-buying process, thinking you have a good deal, and learning down the road that you were taken advantage of – simply because you had no idea what your sales rep was talking about.

From dealer holdback to Rule of 78s , make sure you have an understanding of some of the basic industry terms that could be thrown at you during your transaction. With this knowledge, you won’t misunderstand the details or find yourself being signing a contract or paperwork that you don’t understand.

5.) Be Prepared to Negotiate

If you’ve followed the four previous steps in this article, you will be armed with the necessary tools to negotiate the best rate possible for your car loan. There’s nothing wrong with shopping around and checking with other lenders to see what kind of rate they can offer you, but you must remember that numerous inquiries into your credit report may go against you.

And, when you go through the dealer for your auto loan, the sales rep wants a long-term relationship with you. This motivates them to work harder to get the best rate possible for you. In contrast, an online or off-site lender’s interests begin and end with the loan – but the car dealer wants you to: come back and have your car serviced, return when you want to purchase your next car, and tell your friends about them, further strengthening the dealership’s reputation in the community and increasing business.

Before you sit down to get your next auto loan, take the time to do a little homework so that you can feel confident about securing the best deal for your auto loan. Investing a little time and effort before making the deal can go a long way in creating a win-win situation for you and the car dealership.

How to choose rims and accessories for your car

Author: Victoriatire

Getting your car to look funky and the envy of all your friends can be a time consuming and expensive process. First of all, your car will still be your car, so the first factor to take into account is that your car must be accessorized according to your personality.

If you have an adventurous streak in you, it is natural that this adventurous character trait will find its way into the looks of your car. Of course, choosing rims and other accessories for your car must be done in accordance with the law. All accessories must be properly fitted to the car and not at any time cause any hazard to fellow-road users.

Having the car of your dreams, but without the proper automotive accessories will be like having your dream house without the interior decorations done according to your own preferences. Apart from choosing car accessories to give your car that distinctive look to match your even distinctive character, car accessories are chosen to enhance the performance of your car. More and more car buyers prefer to buy a standard and plain model and invest their money in this vehicle to make it fast, funky and have a brand new look. Current car owners are nowadays thinking twice about trading their customized cars. With a bit of time, effort and money to buy the right accessories, they can have that reliable automotive number so up and ready that can even out-perform some of the newer models. You can have this new looking car with enhanced performance at a much cheaper price than what a brand new car would cost.

At Victoria Tire, we specialize in car accessories. We will be able to assist you with any enquiries that you may have and can supply you with the parts and accessories that you might need. Some of the car accessories that you might consider when deciding to tune up your vehicle include air dams and spoilers, window tinting, custom wheels, custom seats, instrumentation, special shock absorbers, sun roofs, wheels and tires, grille guards, remote engine starting systems. It is important to remember that while these items might cost a bit more, they will definitely be worth the time and money put into your car.

The most important accessory that you might want to consider changing is your tires. This is probably the most important part of the car, apart from the engine that keeps it going, since it connects you to the road. Worn tires can result in serious injury or even death if not taken proper care of on a regular basis. Tire wear patterns can be indicative of problems with a car’s chassis components or can even point to problems such as loose parts like shocks, ball joints or weak or wrong springs. Also make sure that the alignment and suspension is done according to the manual. Check the tire pressure on a regular basis and rotate the tires every seven thousand miles. If you take good care or your tires, they will take good care of you.

Choosing tires is not just a spur of the moment decision. One factor that must be borne in mind when buying tires is the weather condition that this tire will need to perform in. Those individuals living in the regions where the average temperature is below average will choose a different tire than the individuals living in the warmer regions of the country. In areas where extreme temperatures can be experienced, it may be required to have two sets of tires. A set of tires for each of the higher and lower temperature conditions will definitely be advantageous. For those individuals living in areas where ice may occur on the roads during the winter months, a set of tires with metal studs may be helpful. These metal stud tires are banned in some states, so make sure that you will not be breaking the law if you are driving around with them.

Accessories that can be included in the package when buying new tires, or can be bought individually include powerful and high – volume air compressors, tire pressure gauge and liquid sealant. These tire kits can be bought from any tire and tire accessory supplier and it can be really helpful in the event of getting a flat along side the road. Ask Victoria Tire for some information about the supplies you should have, and ensure that you get the applicable accessories for your tire to help make tire maintenance a simple job.

Other factors that deserve some consideration are the style, affordability and durability of tires. Once you have found the perfect tire, the looks thereof can be enhanced by adding wheel covers, hub caps, spare rims or customized center caps. If you are looking to add some additional flair to your car, some of the other options to consider when looking at tires are whether it should be steel wheels, aluminum, clear coated, chromed, polished or painted wheels to match the color of your car.

It is important to choose rims and accessories for your tire according to the specifications in the owner’s manual that comes with your car. Safety must be the main consideration when looking at tires for your vehicle. Tires purchased and fitted at the same time must always have the same measurements such as size, tread and type. Tires that are too big can lead to damage of the cars fenders or suspension. Tires with different treads can have one end of the automotive react differently than the other end and this may lead to decreased control over the vehicle. It is therefore important that the four tires on your car must be as identical as possible.

It is important to remember that cheaper is not always better. Your life and the lives of your passengers literally depend on the condition of your car’s tires. Instead of having the attitude that tires are just an additional extra to enhance the features or look of you car, rather think about it as an investment in your safety, the safety of your fellow-road users as well as an investment in smoother rides and safer journeys. Your tires are you life cord to the road.

Once you have decided on the tires, you can have your way around the extras that will add some extra flavor to your car’s image. Remember that you cannot drive around with a spectacular vehicle that can make minced meat of speed and break the sound barrier on tires that is a death warrant. It will defy the point of having this sporty automotive to show it off, but no-one wants to get into it as they are too scared they will not come out alive on the other end. Start with the basics to make your car look and perform its best. You cannot walk without legs. Your car cannot ride without wheels. In the end the pants that cover your legs are not what are making you perform.

Three Auto Insurance Secrets

Three Auto Insurance Secrets
by: Steve Gillman

Want to learn something new about auto insurance? Something that can save you a lot of money or get a claim paid? Forget the usual tips. Check out these secrets.

1. Demand the legal policy minimums if you have no assets. Do you really need a lot of liability coverage if you have no money in the bank? Insurance companies will tell you that you do because you can be sued regardless. It's possible. I can't promise you that you won't be sued and end up paying a chunk of your paycheck to someone for life.

However, honest insurance salesmen admit that people without assets are rarely sued. Lawyers work on a commission in these cases, and won't take a case where there is no money to be collected. In fact, having a bigger liability policy can be an invitation to sue, and it won't protect you from personal liability, because they always sue for more than the policy limit anyhow.

If you have no assets to protect, why buy auto insurance? Because it is a legal requirement. In that case why not just buy the minimum coverage required? But be careful. My own insurance guy lied for years, claiming I had just that, when in fact I was paying for "company-recommended minimums." You might have to push the point, and may even have to sign something saying you understand how risky it is to be "under-insured."

2. Claim diminished value. If you have a collision policy, your insurance company will pay for the repairs after an accident. However, is the financial damage really fixed? Not necessarily. A car that has been in an accident and had the body fixed may look the same, but it won't sell for the same price. Would you pay the same for a car that has been in an accident?

A car that has been in an accident might be worth $2,000 less than a similar un-damaged car. This is called "diminished value," and may be covered by your policy. However, diminished value is often not paid unless you push the point. Get a car dealer to do an estimate of the diminished value if necessary, and present this to the insurance company. You pay for insurance to have your losses covered, and they aren't covered if you aren't paid for this.

3. Lower your premiums by removing kids from the policy. You may have already discovered that you pay a lot for insurance as long as you have driving-age children at home. Even if they are off at school, if their legal residence is your house, you pay more.

However, there is a little-known exception to this rule. If your children are at a college that's more than 100 miles away, you can have them taken off the insurance policy. This can dramatically reduce your premiums. The catch? They are excluded drivers, so you can't let them drive the car when they come home to visit.

These are just a few examples of the auto insurance secrets that insurance companies probably don't want you to know.

What To Do When You Have Tire Blowout On The Road And How To Change A Flat Tire?

What To Do When You Have Tire Blowout On The Road And How To Change A Flat Tire?
by: Wil Yeo

Having flat tires is one common problem encountered by almost every car owner. As tires are your only contact between the car and the road, flat tire is something that you want to guard against.

The major root cause of flat tire is the under inflation of the tires which is often a result gradual loss of tire pressure and on some instances, rapid loss of pressure due to impact or penetration of hard and sharp objects into the tires.

The danger of having flat tires is that your vehicle may becomes wobbly and you may lost control of it and thus the possibility of encountering serious accidents.

Following are some tips that will help you when your tire blowout:

* First and foremost, when the tire blow out - you'll have to remain calm and do not panic.

* Next, make sure that you grip your steering wheel firmly to gain better control of your vehicle.

* Decelerate your vehicle and let it slowly comes to a halt, this is done by simply taking off your feet from the gas pedal.

* Make sure you do not force the vehicle into going the direction you want by making any sudden turn of the steering wheel. Go along with the flow a little, slow down, turn on your signal light and work towards going to the break-down lane or to the side of the road as swiftly and as safely as possible.

* Brake lightly to bring your car to a complete halt.

* Once your car is stationary, turn on the hazard lights and / or lift up your car boot and hang a white clothe to warn other road users that your car is experiencing problem.

* If you have the triangular reflective warning sign, place it at a distance (about 50 meters) behind the vehicle. Make sure this is carried out safely.

By following the above steps, you have gotten yourself to a point of safety where you can calmly survey the situation and decide on the best actions to be taken, while making the road safer for other users.

You now have two choices - seek professional help or do the tire change yourself.

a. If you have a mobile phone - use it to contact your mechanics or get in touch with one of your friends to help you get the professional help that you needed.

b. And if you prefer to change your tires, here's the guidelines:

1. Be very sure that there are more than enough safety distance between your vehicle and the road. If this is not possible - DO NOT PROCEED with the tire change. Stay away from your vehicle and put yourself in a safe place. You will be much better off in getting a tow truck to tow away your vehicle and replaces your flat tire.

2. Have a brief check on your spare tire - make sure that it is good enough for use. Make sure that your car is on firm and level ground for safety reason.

3. Take out your car jack and lug wrench from your car boot and read the instructions given on how to lift up your vehicle.

4. If your car comes with a wheel cover, remove it with a metal object like a screwdriver or your key to expose the lugs nuts of the wheel.

5. Loosen your lug nuts of the wheel before lifting up your vehicle - do the same for all the nuts for the affected wheel. Remember - clockwise direction to tighten and anti-clockwise to loosen.

6. Once all the nuts are loosen somewhat, it is time to jack the vehicle up at the recommended location where the jack can be placed to lift up the car, this piece of information is available by in the car owner's instruction manual. Now, totally loosen all the nuts and your wheel is ready to be removed from the car.

7. Remove the punctured wheel from your vehicle and replace it with your spare tire, and tighten the nuts - tight enough without having the wheels turning, further tightening will be done after the car jack is being removed.

8. Remove the car jack - further tighten the lug nuts using the lug wrench. To ensure that the nuts are properly tighten and maintain the right balance, make sure that you tighten the nuts in a sequential manner, and repeat the process.

9. Replace the wheel cap and keep your equipment and the blown tire. You are now done.

Drive slowly to the nearest tire shop and have the tire replaced.

Depending on how well worn are your existing tires, you may choose to replace two tires or all four tires as it is always a good practice to change all tires for better balance. Make sure you ask your mechanic to check the alignment of the car to ensure that there is no residual effect from the blown tire.

Remember, never compromise safety. Getting into your car with the right mindset and with responsible behavior will serve you well a long, long way.

How to Get a Cheap Car Insurance – Your 7 Steps to a Good Deal

How to Get a Cheap Car Insurance – Your 7 Steps to a Good Deal
by: Tommy Gordon

Are you wondering how you can purchase cheap car insurance? Worry no more! Here you'll get the seven easy steps to getting the cheapest quotes and the best deals available. Use one or use all, each of them is sure to lower your rates.

The cheapest car insurance is not necessarily the best auto insurance. But, as car insurance is mandatory for registering and driving your car, it is necessary to purchase insurance for your car. The next seven tips will help you choose, if not the cheapest, then the best deal:

1) Compare auto insurance quotes online – insurance companies save money on man power with online quotes and purchase, some of that money goes back to the client and makes your insurance cheaper. There are many companies providing instant quotes. Depending on your auto (and make sure you provide honest answers) or the number of cars you want to insure, you'll get a preliminary estimation. Don't take this sum as the final quote and don't choose the cheapest quote without analyzing the coverage offered in the insurance policy.

2) A clean credit history ensures significant discounts. To put it simple: car insurance gets cheaper if the owner (that's you) is a reliable payer. However, most insurance companies will have an option of "bad credit quotes". If you have a bad credit history, don't waste your time (your time is also valuable) on the companies that don't give you this option.

3) To get an advantageous insurance it is recommendable that you put al the cars you own under a single policy. Some insurance companies offer very good discounts for multiple cars insurance policy.

4) There are many underinsured or uninsured drivers. You'll need coverage in case of an accident caused by an uninsured driver. Make sure your insurance covers such mishaps.

5) Choose the insurance that fits your financial possibilities and the condition of the car. Once your financial status improves or the vehicle deteriorates, you should update the status of your policy.

6) If you plan on moving soon, choose a short-term car insurance plan – we recommend a one year car insurance. Insurance plans vary from country to country and even from state to state.

7) Make your vehicle as safe as possible both in terms of driver and passenger safety (seat belts, air cushions etc.) and is terms of theft (a car alarm an immobilizer etc.) – this will lower the premiums, thus providing for a cheap insurance

7 Tips For Moving Day

7 Tips For Moving Day
by: Susy Copus

Moving Day can involve so many emotions - excitement, elation versus nerves, panic and sadness. Here are some tips to lower the stress levels on moving day.

1. Have your mobile phone charged up! There you are waiting for the call from your solicitor to tell the money has been transferred, you can pick up the keys and you then realise your mobile phone isn't working. Or worse still, the money has not been transferred and there is a problem. Make sure that you can be contactable throughout the day.

2. Pack, pack, pack. Don't leave it too late. Especially if you've lived in your house for a long time. As you sit down to pack you may be tempted to sort, sort, sort which might end up to reminising over the family photo album. Of course that's all very nice, but with so much packing to do, it's the wrong time. Alternatively have the packing all done for you.

3. Be ready for the removal men. The beds need to be dismantled if appropriate, the cushions need to be bagged up, not left on the sofa. Mirrors and pictures need to be protected. The removal men may add extra protection to some items, but not all. Again consider having the packing all done for you - it costs more but it's easier and good for stress levels.

4. Keep your most precious items packed in your own bag and take them with you as hand luggage - they may get lost or broken in the packing and removal process. Though it is unlikely it is possible and why risk it?

5. Don't pack the hoover and basic cleaning equipment. When the removal men have gone you may need to give the house a quick hoover and wipe over ready for the new occupants. Moving in to a dirty house is grim. Hopefully the occupants of your new house will have done the decent thing. Again, you could have this done for you as part of a packing and removal package.

6. Be sure you have everything you need to have your favourite refreshments handy: be it beer, tea,(mugs and milk too), biscuits ready (and a tea towel). You might just need a cuppa after the removal men have left and your home is an empty nest. And when you arrive at your new house you'll know where the kettle is amongst the boxes.

7. At the end of the day, enjoy your favourite take away and a bottle of champers on top of the boxes in your new home. On second thoughts, splash out at your new local restaurant instead. You've made it.

Parental Kidnapping

Parental Kidnapping
by: Sheri Gray

Have you ever heard day to day kidnapping news revolving around events like a mother kidnapping her own son from her businessman husband who abused their child? Or maybe you have heard cases like this: about a stepfather who kidnaps his step daughter then takes her out of the country to force his wife to pay him a fortune in order to get her back?

These types of cases of kidnapping are known as Parental Kidnapping, to be precise. While some people do it to free their children from abusive and tyrant spouses others do it deliberately for financial gain. Other reasons for parental kidnapping include neglecting the spouses needs, abuse of the children by the spouse, endangerment of the child and injustice.

Some parents feel that they have been ill-treated during the legal battle for the custody of their child. As a result they kidnap the child to satisfy their ego or they cannot do without their children.

A survey by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) has revealed that over 300,000 children are abducted every year. This huge number reflects how laws are needed, and they must be made very stringent in order to convict the offenders and instill fear in people who are planning similar acts.

In addition, one of the worst parts of kidnapping attempts is the effect on the children due to all this. It can cause serious harm for his future development including emotional development, bad behavior in school, malnutrition and violent tendencies.

Help and Resources

There is hope and help. Via the Internet, you can access the NCMEC site and speak to a Call Center Specialist if you have speakers and a microphone with your computer. You can also insert the NCMEC RSS feed into your feed reader to keep abreast of missing children. Stay in tune with Amber alerts, too, either via wireless or other channels. And you can also register to volunteer in your area should a child ever turn up missing; handling out posters, handling phone calls, etc.

Learn more and reach out by writing to: National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, Charles B. Wang International Children's Building, 699 Prince Street, Alexandria, Virginia 22314-3175 USA. Call them at: (703) 274-3900; or fax: (703) 274-2200; or visit them online at: http://www.missingkids.com . Report any information about kidnapping attempts and parental kidnapping to their 24-hour Hotline by dialing: (800) THE-LOST (1-800-843-5678).

Having a child abducted is the biggest fear a parent can face, and no parent wants to even imagine this situation presenting itself. To assist the authorities with locating a missing child, the use of a child identification kit can speed up the return of a loved one. The first 48 hours are the most critical when it comes to locating and saving a missing child. A preferred Child Identification Kit usually contains the following vital information for your child, recent photos, fingerprints, dental records, hair samples and other pertinent information about your child in one secure and convenient location. This could save the life of a child!

Limo: To hire or not to hire, that is the question

Author: Joanna

In this article we bring to discussion if hiring a limousine is a good option for those who want to celebrate an extraordinary event in some special way.

Through our research among Limousine companies and limo sites we found that many people seem to see these recreational and exotic cars as part of some unreachable extraordinary world. Among the features that help to create this idea is the relation between the complex Prices-Quality-Social opportunity.

Today limousine companies are offering complete services, which includes the luxurious cars, well trained and professional chauffeurs, a huge amount of amenities (Open bar, Neon flashing lights, Karaoke machine, Satellite radio, Compact disc player, DVD player, Mini kitchen, Snacks, Audio Systems, Ice Cooler, Dance floor, among others). To combine all this services with the quality they promise, can make prices being sometimes very expensive to many common people. That is why the social opportunity for hiring a limousine is mostly in special occasions like hen nights, stag nights, weddings, business trips, corporate hire, birthday/anniversary celebration, school proms, bachelor parties and more; and the people who can afford this “special treatment” usually come from established economical and social parts of the society.

Hiring or not a limo for memorable occasions becomes an important question both to the companies as to the customers as there are many ways of celebrating a special event.

Although the competition increase in an exponential way between limo companies in the last years, for many people, the main problem in hiring a limousine still concerns the prices. However we can’t forget that other issues like the education or cultural background are very important to understand “who is booking now” the limo services, as we notice for example that most of the customers are living in urban areas comparing with those from the countryside.

What makes the hiring of a limo (which includes all the services and amenities) a desirable option? We can point some answers: first is the quality provided by the service in general, the continuous improvement of the cars, the chauffeurs, and the amenities. Second is the desire of security, comfort and fun, which a ride in a limo can promise and provide.

Third, because hiring a limousine it’s different than renting one, people don't have to worry about anything except to enjoy a great night and make sure that the event really feels special. Fourth is the “brightness” used in the marketing of limo companies as almost them are selling their services as an extraordinary experience full of glamour and class, re-inventing the limo tradition as “cars for stars” but now directed for everybody (to see more about the new changes/inventions in the companies see this limousine article). To finish we can see significant changes in the prices (decreasing) the companies are offering, as they are struggling against a much more competitive and aggressive competitors in parallel with a market who shows clear signs of opening due to the increase of recreational demands.

We can say that although there are many ways of enjoying a special event in some special way, hiring a limo still is one of the best choices. The relation between the quality provided by most of the companies and the prices is moving towards a new balance: keeping the usual “taste” associated with the limo glamour and turning prices into affordable quantities for more and more persons. This will gather more and more potential clients placing the hire of a limo in a strong referential position among recreational services and resources.

Tips to succeed at Interviews

Author: Cme

Interview technique is a skill that can be learnt and improved until it becomes second nature and a walk in the park.

One of the main reasons people do not do well at interviews is anxiety.

They may be more than capable of doing the prospective job, but nerves get the better of them and they end up not presenting their case in the best possible manner.

Below are listed some common sense points for people going into interviews that can help ease the pain of the interview, resulting in a optimum performance.

Pre-Preparation:

It goes without saying, do some research about the company and the job.

Be clear about the role you are going for and have questions prepared.

Think about possible questions that you may be asked and prepare and practice responses.

Make sure you have smart attire ready for the day, and you have your CV, Business Cards and other relevant documentation ready and organised to take with you on the day.

Visualise the interview process, bear in mind that this is not about a bunch of people putting you under the microscope and picking on you. Think of it as follows,

The fact that you have been invited in for the interview is the first success. The company will have received many CV’s out of which they will shortlist candidates. Just think, you have made it to the shortlist, they like you.

The people in the company have invited you to the interview, because based on your CV they want to find out more about you. The interview will be your opportunity to tell them why they should pick you for the job, and the best thing is, they do really want to listen to what you have to say.

The interview is a two way process, it is also your chance to engage the people interviewing and make sure they answer all your questions, don’t be shy, just like they have the right to put you on the spot, you can also do the same to them.

So please remember, the interview is a two way exchange of information, and nothing more and nothing less. Think of it purely as a chance for you to talk more about yourself.

The Interview:

If you have done the pre-preparation, then you should be looking smart and have all the relevant paperwork organised and ready to present at the interview. Just make sure you arrive early, and relax.

Forget about everything you have heard before, about eye contact, firm handshakes and the way you sit and cross your legs and the way you place your arms. Thinking and paying attention to all of this makes you over-conscious and stops you from concentrating on the actual interview.

Just be natural, introduce yourself and shake hands the way you normally do, sit in a manner that is not offensive but at the same time makes you comfortable. If making constant eye contact makes you uncomfortable then don’t, and if keeping your hands in a certain position makes you happy then please do so.

Present all your details, CV, Business Cards and others in an organised manner.

Listen to what is being said and asked, be polite and don’t interrupt.

When responding to questions, don’t feel that you are under time pressure to answer, i.e. don’t think you need to answer within 5 seconds of the question being asked. Take your time, think about your answer and if you are not sure of the question, clarify. Don’t be worried that your answer may not be understood or that your answer may be incorrect. Give the best response you can give in your own time.

Don’t be shy to to display you personal mannerisms, if you need to umm! and ahh! in mid sentence then do so. If you wave your hands around when talking because this helps you express your point, then do so, there is no rule book that says your hands need to be in your lap throughout the interview.

Ask relevant questions and by all means indulge in smalltalk. Smalltalk relaxes you and also relaxes the other party.

Finish the interview politely and with a smile.

To summarise, if you view an interview as an exchange of views and information and nothing more sinister, you will do well.

To look at the range of new cars available at present log on to OzFreeOnline.com and browse the auto classifieds. Firstly, plan trips well to avoid unnecessary driving in extreme heat.

With the engine off, look for worn or cracked belts and damaged blistered or soft hoses. Inspect the antifreeze/coolant level and condition, making sure the proper 50/50 mixture of water and coolant.

AIR CONDITIONING

A properly working air conditioning system also helps motorists keep their cool in summer heat.

When you run your air conditioner, you get much worse petrol consumption. Use your air conditioner sparingly. If you have a lower setting, use it. Turn it on until the car gets cool, then turn it off, and let the fan circulate the cool air. Never run your air conditioner with your windows open.

EMERGENCY KIT

Because even properly maintained vehicles can break down, and you only want the best used car in Australia, check OzFreeOnline.com and you'll find free car listings that may help your search. 6 Tips For Saving Gas

6 Tips For Saving Gas
by: Jackson Porter

In the past months we have seen the price of gasoline soar higher than ever before, and this can be hard on people who have a budget that is tight. Even though gas prices have come down a slight bit, you still will want to do everything you possibly can to save on the money you have to pay out for gas. There are a variety of ways that you can save gas, and save money.

Tip#1 - Start Carpooling

Carpooling is a great idea for fellow students and fellow employees both. If you can find people that are going to the same place you are you can save gas by riding together. It may be a good idea to trade off on who is driving from week to week so no one person gets stuck having to drive all the time. If you have to take your children to school or other functions you can also work on trading off with your friends and neighbors to take them there.

Tip#2 - Public Transportation

If it is possible you can take public transportation to work instead of driving your car. Not only will this save you money on gas, but you will also be able to relax and not worry about having to drive through all that rush hour traffic. You may even be able to fit in a quick nap on your way to work or on your way home.

Tip#3 - Price Shop

Often it may be so convenient to buy your gas at the small gas station just up the road, but to save some money on gas you may want to check the prices at other gas stations that are nearby as well. Even if the difference is only a few cents, after putting hundreds of gallons of gas in you vehicle each year, those few cents are going to add up to quite a sum of money.

Tip#4 - Get Moving

You can save some money on gas if you start walking to where you are going, or you can ride a bike as well. You will not have to worry about paying to park your car, and the exercise will be great for you body. If you are walking or biking you will not have to worry about those huge traffic jams either.

Tip#5 - Take Care of Your Car

It is always important to take care of your car so it gets the best gas mileage possible. Also be sure to plan where you are going before you go so you will not have to backtrack and waste gas. If you can, you should use your air conditioning as little as possible because using it takes more gas. Roll down your windows and you will use less gas.

Tip#6 - Check your Tires

It is important that you check the air pressure in your tires as often as possible. If your tires are too low, or the pressure in them is unequal it can make your car burn more gas. You should also be careful how you drive. If you take off from every red light very fast you are going to burn more fuel, so it is best to take off a little slower.

These are a few tips that can help the money conscious person to save money on gas. Even as gas prices drop, these tips can still help you to save more money. Conservation is important, so take advantage of these tips, save money, and save gas.
