Have a High Performance Vehicle You Can Be Proud Of
by: Kausik Dutta
Everyone wants their vehicles to perform at their best. For those with high performance cars and trucks, you want the best horsepower and performance available, and that means finding the right performance auto parts for your needs. Here are some basic modifications that you can make to your vehicle to increase horsepower and performance.
You already know that you need to change your disposable air filter when it gets dirty to keep clean air running to your engine. Clean air is good for your engine, but clean cold air is better. A cold air intake brings down the temperature of the air going into a car. A cold air intake system completely replaces the factory airflow assembly which includes the filter, air box and air path allowing more airflow to reach the upper intake. This increases the power of your engine. A secondary benefit to the increased power of a cold air intake system is the more attractive intake sound and engine bay. Unlike some other car performance parts, cold air intake kits are a relatively inexpensive way to boost engine power.
Forced Induction Systems - Superchargers and Turbocharges
Both turbochargers and superchargers force air into your engine’s cylinders. As a result, the engine works like the valves and cylinders are larger giving you the effects of a larger engine with less weight. The main difference between the two is their source of power. A supercharger is connected to the drivetrain with a belt. A turbocharger gets its power from the exhaust, forcing more air back into the engine using a turbine. Turbochargers are more efficient, but superchargers are easier to install. Both of these options are very popular car and truck performance options. Whichever way works best for your vehicle, you should see a substantial increase in power.
Exhaust System
Your exhaust can rob your engine of power. An easy way to boost your vehicle’s performance is to install headers. With headers, each cylinder has its own exhaust pipe instead of a common manifold. This makes it easier on the engine to push exhaust gases out of the cylinders. By eliminating the manifold’s backpressure, the engine performs better and becomes more fuel-efficient as well. A great advantage to installing headers is that they are one of the easiest bolt-on accessories you can use to boost performance.
Modifying your car to increase performance can be an easy, inexpensive modification, or a challenging investment. Either way depends on you and your vehicle needs. Make sure you shop around to find the best quality performance auto parts for the price. After all, it’s you vehicle and your work – you want to be proud of it!

Are You ALSO Groaning Under Expensive Fuel Prices?
Are You ALSO Groaning Under Expensive Fuel Prices?
by: King J. For
At first the world thought it had found a way out when it discovered oil. Cars could be powered on fuel from oil... planes could be powered... and most importantly machines could be powered. And with all these, progress could be made that would improve the whole of humanity.
Many years later, we are no longer so sure of that. Despite the incredible progress being made by the discovery and use of fuel from oil, we have also taken many years backwards.
This is because apart from the damage that fuel has caused to the environment, it has also caused a lot of economic damage to the income of lots of people, not only in the United States but in many other countries of the world.
Almost everyday the costs of fuel increases all over the world, whether or not the people can afford it. There are many countries that pay so much for oil that many people are forced not to own cars, just to avoid paying so high for fuel.
Many people insist that there is nothing we can do about it. Some would jokingly ask - "Or do you have an alternative to fuel?"
The good news is that YES, now we have an alternative to fuel for powering our vehicles. The BEST news is that the alternative is practically FREE.
No longer MUST we be forced to depend solely on fuel to power our vehicles. Now there's an alternative that doesn't cost anything to use.
Can't wait to hear what it is? Here goes...
WATER!
Yes, you can now power your car on water as well as gas, thereby saving lots of money on gas.
How does it work?
This is the use of simple technology of putting together of home-made devices that use a little electricity out of your car's battery to separate water into a gas called HHO (2 Hydrogen + 1 Oxygen). HHO, also known as Brown's Gas or Hydroxy, burns beautifully and by so doing provides TONS of energy.
And the most remarkable beauty is that this pound for pound HHO gas is even much more potent than gasoline. In fact 3 times more potent than gasoline.
To get started, do your due diligence to find out more about this technology and how you too can save cost by fueling your car with water and gas, instead of 100% gas! Thankfully, on the Internet you can find information for free.
But a word of caution: ensure that you don’t depend on any information that tells you that it’s possible to run your car on 100% water. Such technology are not only too expensive but very complicated.
Water hybrid cars are the perfect solution: part water, part gasoline – and you don’t have to buy a new car!

Points to Remember when Buying a Car
Points to Remember when Buying a Car
by: Scott James
Lets be honest, to most of us, buying a car is not the easiest thing we have ever done. There are so many potential pit falls that most people tend to either play totally safe and go straight for a reputable garage (no bad thing) or focus their minds totally on the price tag at the expense of other potentially key factors.
Yes it is potentially a case of “buying a cheap car can cost you more in the long run – unless you really know what you are doing”
Phew that’s really quite a mouthful but in all seriousness just how true is it? Y
I guess one of the first targets has to be if you are dealing with “a dealer” in a local garage is to try and “get him on your side” if such a thing is possible. The one essential fact that most buyers always forget when dealing with Car Dealers is that they really don’t understand where the emphasis of power really lies in all of this.
Perhaps if I were to simplify things somewhat then we might all get a better understanding of who actually calls the shots here. The bottom line as with all sales lead operations is perhaps the most brutal and basically goes like this. If the Car Dealer fails to make any sales at all then he doesn’t get paid and by and large if they try and peddle unfit goods back to you then that would be a really short lived approach. So if you are looking cars in this environment then do not forget the fear factor.
Also do not feel obsessively guilty for appearing to drive a bargain when you make your approach to buy. An approach that basically remembers the scene out of Oliver Twist where Oliver has to ask for more and appears to beg won’t work and so you have to enter the arena fairly buoyed up if at all possible and aim to give as good as you get.
If you are trading up then be realistic in your own internal valuation of what your existing car is worth and what the dealer may offer by way of part-exchange. Be pessimistic on this one and then be surprised at a later date. The days of massive manufacturer lead discounts is starting to wane with most car types and so expect nothing more than the 10% type of discount. As I said, be pessimistic and then if you get more have your faith in humanity restore.
Perhaps the most vitally important piece of advice anyone can ever give someone and to be honest it is a sad indictment of today’s world is the advice “Trust no one, despite what the vendor says and appears to do, they are the last people that you should consult with”
Always, I repeat, always take most industry lead opinions etc with a grain of salt and with what one would describe as a totally jaundiced viewpoint tell the garage or who ever that you will make up your mind in your own time and not theirs.
Never I repeat, never allow yourself to be bullied into a decision that you don’t feel comfortable with. Despite what all brokers and sales people say, there will always be another deal. We have all heard of the situation whereby people get pressurised into buying cars only to have the car develop problems at a later date and they weren’t allowed to independently verify the worthiness of their purchase in the first place.
The one golden rule of doing any deal in any business. Don’t ever enter into a deal where you are not prepared to walk away from it if need be.

It’s About Time!: Hybrid Trucks
It’s About Time!: Hybrid Trucks
by: Dan Riffle
With the increasing concern about environmental issues such as pollution and global warming, as well as the unbelievable rise in the price of gasoline, it is no wonder that hybrid vehicles are gaining popularity. Hybrid cars have been relatively common for years, with hybrid Sport Utility Vehicles in close competition, but what about hybrid trucks? We don't see those too often. Automotive manufacturing giant General Motors, however, believes that will change.
In 2005, GM introduced hybrid versions of the Chevy Silverado and the GMC Sierra in Florida, California, Oregon, Washington, Nevada, and Alaska. In 2006 the company made the vehicles available nationwide. These hybrid pickup trucks have 5.3 liter V-8 engines which have exactly the same amount of power and torque as there non-hybrid counterparts (295 horsepower, 325 pound/feet of torque). They can carry the same size loads, tow the same weights, and accelerate to the same degree that regular non-hybrid GM pickup trucks can. And they do it all while providing the most efficient gas mileage of any full-sized pickup on the market—about 20 miles per gallon on the highway. These hybrid trucks also feature a 2400 watt generator that can be used to power electrical devices, making them ideal for contractors or construction workers.
When compared to the Toyota Prius, a small hybrid car that gets 50 miles per gallon, 20 mpg might not sound like much. It is in fact only about a 10 percent difference from the fuel consumption of regular non-hybrid GM trucks. This is because the Prius is what is known as a “full hybrid,” which means that its internal combustion engine can shut off completely when the car is idle or driving at low speeds, relying solely on battery power and drastically improving fuel efficiency. This type of fuel savings is great, but it requires a significant compromise of power, which is something that the general pickup truck owner simply will not stand for.
Many truck owners use their vehicles for work related purposes, such as hauling heavy loads, and it is essential that a hybrid pickup truck be able to do this. If automotive manufacturers sacrifice power to gain fuel economy in hybrid trucks, their customers will disappear. Acutely aware of this, General Motors has decided that a little improvement is better than none at all.
Hybrid Cars and Trucks and the Environment
With fossil fuel emissions at levels of billions of tons per year and global warming becoming increasingly obvious, it is clear that sooner or later something must be done. For decades, scientists and researchers have tried to find alternative fuel sources, but there simply was nothing as convenient as the old standby—oil. The oil infrastructure is so vast and developed that is has become impossible to think of cars without thinking of gasoline, and many Americans are loath to change. But they must. Every major city in the country—New York, Chicago, Houston, Atlanta, and most notably Las Angeles—is plagued by pollution. The cities are shrouded by smog, there are pollution warnings on weather reports, and at times it is impossible even to take a deep breath without noticing that something is wrong with the air. This is not a world that most of us want to live in. But if more people are willing to take the plunge and buy a hybrid car or truck, the effects over time will be enormous. A hybrid truck might be more expensive initially, but the fuel savings will soon make it worthwhile. And as hybrid technology improves, the cost of these vehicles will no doubt be reduced, making the future a lot brighter, and a lot less smoggy, for the next generation of Earthlings.

Luxury Cars: Toys for the Big Boys
Luxury Cars: Toys for the Big Boys
by: Scott James
Luxury cars are the playthings of the rich and famous. It comes as a status symbol to drive and ride in a classy and expensive vehicle. There is a market for this affluence; otherwise no cars of this calibre are manufactured to serve the discriminating preferences of this niche. Surprising enough, demand escalates for the more expensive types and the limited production of these fine cars makes them even pricier.
Most luxury cars are hand crafted and designed with fine and comfortable trimmings. Rolls-Royce or Mercedes-Benz, even Daimler and BMW have set up a luxury car segment where manufactured coupes are fine-tuned to fit owner preferences at a price that exceeds the range of normal sedans, sports coupes and SUVs.
It is extreme pricing more than technological features that set luxury cars from the regular 4-wheeled machines. These cars usually sell at a six-digit figure floor price. In a 2006 survey of luxury cars in the market, the Bugatti Veyron 16.4— a European built and designed car— is deemed the most expensive coupe, being retailed at $ 1,192,057 million dollars. The SSC Ultimate Aero, an American car was selling at $ 654,000 dollars; a tag price that compensates for its identity as the fastest car in its class. Giant car manufacturer Mercedes-Benz also churned out the SLR McLaren at $ 452,750 and the Maybach 62 at $ 385,250 dollars.
Before the end of year 2006, Rolls-Royce presented an extended version of the Phantom that is outfitted with bullet-proofed features and a roomy passenger cabin to provide lavish comfort and a pleasant driving experience. Such opulence would come at a whooping cost of $ 3.8 million dollars. Toyota on the other hand gave a lift to increasing environmental concerns by giving the industry a hybrid engine train for its Lexus LS 600h L, sold at $ 104,750 dollars.
The premium pricing of luxury cars is compensated by the built-in, power-packed performance features. A distinguishing feature is its power train. The Jaguar car series for example, carries on its hood a throbbing V-8 engine that delivers top-notch speed when moments call for it; an all wheel drive system that comes fully loaded and with superb handling capabilities. Additional features common to most luxury cars, the Mercedes-Benz E500 and BMW 500xi included, are the electronic stability program, digital surround-sound and hands free communication system that allows the driver use of the mobile phone from controls built into the steering wheel. Aesthetically, these luxury coupes are fitted with ergonomically designed leather seats, poplar or maple trims, wireless technology via Bluetooth, park-distance controls, electronic sensors and climate control sensors that can detect and evade pollutants like carbon monoxide and ethanol.
The Daimler Chrysler is popular for its top of the line engineering and car safety features while the Cadillac SRX has perfected the magnetic ride control, the XM satellite radio and back-seat DVD entertainment on top of superb luxury touches.
A new breed of luxury cars with superb aesthetic and aerodynamic features hits the market in 2007. This includes the diamond clad Mercedes-Benz, the all chrome BMW, the gold and diamond inlaid interior of the Maybach 57S and the gold plated Porsche Boxter in 22 karat beaten gold.
More expensive toys for the big boys, huh…definitely!

Is Speed Worth It?
Author: S J Massey
When your considering the purchase of you next car, should the speed of the car be an important factor. With the increasing surveillance on the roads, is travelling at high speeds worth the risk of a fine or a ban.
Is the speed of your car so important today? Other than bragging rights, do people really care about the top speed of their cars. Outside of a race track, there are very little opportunities to test the limit of your car. So given that the speed limit in the UK is 70mph, and allowing for some overtaking speed, a top speed double this seems pointless.
Sports cars, which will have more powerful engines and thus higher tops speeds, also have exotic and distinctive looks. So, the sports car may say more about the status of the owner, rather than any particular need for the car to travel at the speed it was designed to do so. The question is not really targeted at these owners, but more for the person who would sacrifice features in a car for a gain in speed.
The obvious reason against driving fast would be to reduce the risk of accident to you. Driving fast does not necessarily kill you, but stopping does. You may be familiar with the road safety tests, where the stopping distances needs to memorised against the speed of the car. So at higher speeds, there is less reaction time to danger ahead, and so there is more of a chance of being involved in an accident.
Another reason for driving slower, would be increasing amount of surveillance techniques used by the police.
Here in the UK, there are speed surveillance cameras, such as Gatso's, that are placed at roads where the police consider to be hotspots for over speeding. So we have constant monitoring in place, which means that there is more chance of being caught and prosecuted with 3 points or more on your licence. 12 points in the UK, means an outright driving ban for 2 years.
Before cameras, a 'human' police officer may consider the conditions of the road, or the number of others vehicles in proximity to you, before deciding to issue a fine. You could have probably been let off with a caution if you were not travelling too much over the limit or driving recklessly. A camera however, is ignorant of such factors. So once you are photographed, there is little you can do to escape the penalty.
As electronics become more sophisticated, there are more advanced ways of detecting your speed. Sure there are ways of detecting the camera's themselves, including advanced detectors that use GPS, but speed cameras are relatively cheap to install. So for most of your journey, you'll will be driving within the speed limit as you slow down to avoid the speed traps, especially as speed camera's become more common.
So next time you shop for a car, you may find that a model with more luxury items may be more desirable than a model with a higher top speed.

The 2 Types Of Hybrid Cars
The 2 Types Of Hybrid Cars
by: Ricky Lim
Many automobile companies have spend millions of dollars each year in research and development of more efficient fuel consumption for cars. Each year more and more cars are rolled out the production plants and there is an urgent call by consumers and environmental groups to reduce the fuel consumption of automobiles.
With the increasing cost of fuel and the environmental concerns regarding harmful emissions of toxic gases into our atmosphere, automobile companies are forced to developed radically different types of cars. One of which is the hybrid car
A hybrid is powered by conventional fuel as well as uses electric energy. Hybrid cars have lower fuel consumption and are more environmentally friendly.
All hybrid cars are powered by two engines : a gasoline engine and a electric engine. Typically, they work in tandem with each other. The gasoline engine is used during starting and stopping the car. Once the car is travelling at a certain speed, the electric engine will take over automatically.
In the current market, there are 2 types of hybrid car. The first type is the series. Typically, the gasoline engine is used to start and stop the car. Once the hybrid car has attained a certain speed, the electric engine will take over. The gasoline engine is also used to charge the electric engine’s batteries. As you can see, both engines are used in tandem with each other but never together.
The second type is called the parallels. It has the same physical configuration of the series hybrid however the operation is quite different. Both the electric engine and the gasoline engine can be used to start and stop the car. The electric engine is used to boost the power of the car when required. Parallel hybrid cars are more suited for long distance travelling.
Usually, hybrid cars are built using very lightweight materials in order to reduce the load on the hybrid car when travelling. This help to save fuel by requiring less energy to move the vehicle. The tires are made more rigid than conventional vehicles with higher tire pressure to increase fuel efficiency.
In on whole, a hybrid car consumes 50 to 60 percent less fuel than a conventional car. The only obstacle is the high cost at the present moment but I am sure as consumers start to recognize the benefits of hybrid car, the prices will start falling and become more affordable.

Top 3 Picks For Hybrid Cars
by: Ricky Lim
Hybrid cars are fast becoming more and more popular due to the rising fuel costs and the prices of hybrid cars are becoming more and more affordable. The performance of hybrid cars are also comparable to diesel/petrol cars so there’s no reason not to get it.
There are plenty of new hybrid car models introduced every year but here are my top 3 picks that offers the best performance and features for the price.
#3 Honda Civic Hybrid
The Honda Civic hybrid is not a new model and has been on the market for some time. The price retails around $20,000 and the fuel performance is 47 city mpg and 48 highway mpg.
Though it isn’t terribly fast, what I like about the honda civic hybrid is that it can carry up to 5 people. It is more functional and is suitable as a family car. It also pass the crash test rating with a good score of 5.
If you have a family and do not need to get anywhere fast, then going with a honda civic hybrid is a good buy.
#2 Honda Insight
The honda insight is a two seater hybrid car which have fuel performance of 57 city mpg and 56 highway mpg. The price is about the same as the honda civic hybrid. It is a very reliable car which I have owned for a couple of years. So far, it has not given me such problems.
There are a couple of disadvantages, firstly it is 2 seater which means it’s not a family type of car. Secondly, the horsepower isn’t that great with only 71 hp.
It is my second top pick because I like its reliability and when you compare price to performance, it is pretty good.
#1 Toyota Prius
The Toyota Prius hybrid car is my top pick because it offers the best performance for the price you get. It cost around $19,000 which is the cheapest out of the three. It has more horsepower at 110 hp and can do 60 city mpg and 51 highway mpg. It is a family sized car which can hold 5 people quite comfortably with some space left in the trunk.
It also get a 4.5 score for it’s crash test rating. For price and performance, you can’t beat the toyota prius.

Tripping the light fantastic
Author: Emily Courtney
TAIL LIGHT ASSEMBLY is the most recognizable marker lights in a Volvo. Since a car’s rear end is one of the more critical accident flash points, the Volvo TAIL LIGHT ASSEMBLY is developed along with the Swedish automaker’s safety concept cars.
Composed of primary rear lights for greater road visibility, and hazard lights that indicate whether the car is braking, turning left or right, or pulling over, the Volvo TAIL LIGHT ASSEMBLY is more than just eye candies. They make the car stand out when visibility is low, at night or under an inclement weather.
The Volvo TAIL LIGHT ASSEMBLY is electrically operated, with the individual lights on different circuits as a fail-safe to series circuit break. In the event that one of the lights becomes busted or the circuit is broken, the whole assembly is not affected and the Volvo is still equipped with the remaining good rear lights. There are two types of light system in the Volvo TAIL LIGHT ASSEMBLY. The primary rear lights are equipped with low-beam lamps capable of producing a diffused pool of light. Low-beam lamps, unlike those used in head lights, cast the light downward or at the flanks of the lamp, resulting in visibility without glare.
Chief parts of the safety light features of the Volvo are the hazard, amber, and brake lights. Also called blinkers, hazard lights are blinking TAIL LIGHTS that signal to the adjacent vehicles if the car is coming to an emergency stop. Hazard lights make the Volvo better equipped when the car incurs engine problem during highway drives. A blinking TAIL LIGHT is a universally accepted code on emergency situations. They can warn that the Volvo is pulling over a shoulder, say, and the vehicles at the back can be informed and make adjustments on their driving.
Also, blinkers make the car more visible when it turns a corner. Since cornering generally requires some amount of brakes, the corresponding side of the TAIL LIGHT goes on and off to indicate where the car is turning.
Blinking TAIL LIGHTS can also be used during medical emergencies. They can warn other drivers and traffic enforcers that the vehicle is on its way to the nearest hospital or medical facility. Similarly, a convoy of vehicles also uses the hazard lights to show that they are traveling in a group and must maintain their position. Blinkers are usually mounted on the lower middle portion of the rear windshield, above eye level to ensure greater visibility.
The TAIL LIGHT consists of separate bulbs, lenses, reflectors, and frames. Because TAIL LIGHTS are required to have no excessive glare, they are of the sealed-beam construction type. Like most lighting system, TAIL LIGHT bulbs need regular replacement. The TAIL LIGHT ASSEMBLY eventually gets busted over time, but with a bulb replacement the assembly can carry out its function all the same. Bulb replacement is relatively cheap and quick process. Periodic bulb checkup can ensure that the Volvo TAIL LIGHT ASSEMBLY is in good working condition. Defective or broken TAIL LIGHTS are not only illegal and invite traffic citation tickets but, not to mention, dangerous.
As part of the Volvo safety concept, the TAIL LIGHT ASSEMBLY is designed to reduce the risk of vehicular accidents, so make sure that the car is customarily illuminated with bright, easily distinguishable TAIL LIGHTS.

Safety and Performance Begin With Quality Volkswagen Jetta Parts
Author: G. Wiggins
Safety first. This is the slogan that the Volkswagen Jetta is famous for. It was first manufactured in 1980 as a smaller version of the Volkswagen Golf family car. However, this name was actually used only in North America and South Africa from 1991 to 2005.
Vento and Bora are some of its names in other parts of the world. Due to the demand for such kind of car , it became the best selling European car in the United States and Canada.
The first generation Jetta was introduced in North American in 1980 in two versions namely: the two-door coupe and the four-door sedan. Giorgeto Giugiaro was the mind behind its effective design. Packed inside the ifrst generation Jetta is a 1.6 L four-cylinder engine producing 78 hp (57 kW) and 83 ft·lbf (113 N·m) of torque. However, in 1981, the engine was upgraded to a 1.7 L engine producing 74 hp (54 kW) and 90 ft·lbf (121 N·m) of torque.
There were at least five generations of the Volkswagen Jetta, each generation having innovations that improve the experience of Volkswagen owners around the globe. In 2008, it is expected that Volkswagen will introduce the Jetta with a wagon version.
Behind the huge success of the Volkswagen Jetta are the quality Volkswagen Jetta parts that it has. These parts, no matter how big or small, contribute to the overall performance of the Jetta. From the radiator, the alternator, the A/C condenser, the fuel system to the spark plugs, thermostat, oil filter and other parts each perform a specific function in order to deliver the efficiency that the Jetta is known for.
Proper maintenance of these Volkswagen Jetta parts is therefore a must.
Cleaning, repairing and even replacing defective parts should be part of the routine so as to maintain the Jetta at its top shape.

The People's Car
Author: Volks
The Volkswagen Bug (or more popularly known as the Beetle) is the most iconic of VW vehicles, due to the fact that has seen a continuous production run from the late 1930s to the early 21st century.
The Volkswagen Bug (or more popularly known as the Beetle) is the most iconic of VW vehicles, due to the fact that has seen a continuous production run from the late 1930s to the early 21st century. Unmistakable VW bug parts such as the hunched roof and bubble wheels flares make it instantly recognizable even from a distance.
The Bug was first conceptualized in 1925, by an Austrian, Bela Barenyi. But the design took off in 1933, when the German Fuhrer, Adolf Hitler, talked to Richard Whittle and Ferdinand Porsche about making a Volks-Wagen or “People's Car."
The concept called for a basic VW bug parts design, which could seat two adults and three children, a top speed of 100 km/h and should cost no more than 990 Reichmarks, which put it in the price range of the ordinary worker. The price made it affordable for millions of German workers, who relished the chance of owning a car for the first time.
World War II brought a halt to its civilian production, as the production plants became war factories. The plants then churned out military models of the Beetle for use of the German military.
The lack of jobs at the end of the war brought back the civilian production of the Beetle. Production started to pick up, with the one millionth Beetle coming off the assembly line in 1955. The Beetle design had superior performance in its category because of its top performing VW bug parts such as its engine, which can attain a top speed of 115km/h (72mph) and 0-100km/h (0-60mph) in 27.5 seconds on 7.6 l/100 km (31mpg) for the standard 25kW (34hp) engine.
People liked the Beetle because for a small car, it handled excellently and was a joy to drive. Competitors were frustrated of its popularity that Henry Ford II remarked that it was “a little shit box."
However, those remarks did little to dispel the Beetle's popularity, as it became the world's best-selling car.
Production began to decline steadily during the 70's, prompting Volkswagen to plan for its phasing out. The last Beetle rolled out in Mexico in 2003 amid much fanfare.
The Beetle became one of the icons of 20th century life, with numerous references in popular culture.
With its affordability, easy handling and iconic stature, the Beetle truly deserves to be called the People's Car.

Battle of the Traffic Schools: Traditional versus Online
Author: Travis Ferreira
The cost of driving increases every year and due to this most drivers are often willing to do whatever it takes to keep their costs down. That means going to traffic school if they commit a traffic violation.
Traffic school saves drivers from having points added to their driving records, a necessary step to ensuring that already hefty insurance rates don't skyrocket.
Fortunately through the use of the internet, today's drivers aren't forced to go to a traditional classroom traffic school as they once had to. No looking up streets and driving for hours... simply grab your favorite coffee (or tea) and pull your seat up to the computer to get started. New online traffic schools such as TrafficRelief are now making the task of doing such courses quick, easily and much more affordable. (Most online traffic schools charge anywhere from $17 to $50.)
But to give you an even better idea of all the pro's and cons, let's look at the following.
Traditional Traffic School
Social Interaction. Some critics of online traffic schools say that there’s simply nothing like a classroom setting for traffic school or any school for that matter and to some extent, this is true. Students who opt for traditional traffic school will have the chance to interact with their fellow students and the class instructor. For some people, especially those who thrive in social settings, this is often the ideal way to learn.
The biggest advantage to traditional traffic school may well be the social interaction, especially if the instructor is good. A charismatic instructor can excite students and make the day-long course not only educational but also fun.
Immediacy. If a student has a question, all he has to do is ask and he'll have an immediate answer. Information that is unclear can be discussed and clarified for students immediately, instead of them having to call an 800 number or having to wait for a return email.
One session and it's done. Traditional traffic school requires students to appear on the day of the class, participate throughout the day, complete the final exam, and that's that, if the student passed the final exam. There's no room for procrastination or thoughts of, "Oh well, I'll just do it tomorrow." Further, information will be fresh in the students' mind when they take the final exam.
Certificate is awarded immediately. Students who opt for walk-in traffic school will receive their certificate of completion immediately following the session, an added bonus for those students who put off taking the course until the last minute.
Of course, there are also disadvantages to attending walk-in traffic school.
No one knows that better than Mike P. Welch who completed a traditional walk-in traffic course in August 2005. In addition to having to shuffle his schedule to fit traffic school in, Welch found that much of the course material was grossly outdated.
“The instructor had us watch a video that was from the 1970s, and a big segment was on call boxes, which I felt was irrelevant, considering the majority of the population now has cell phones,” he says.
According to Welch, students were also required to reveal their ticket violations in front of the class. This ultimately led to some students, like Welch, feeling as though the course was more of a punishment than an opportunity to learn.
Finally, anyone who remembers high school likely can recall those one or two annoying students in the back of the class, out to give the teacher a hard time and cause a distraction. At first, it might be funny but then it just gets downright annoying. Unfortunately, those students who attend walk-in traffic school risk having to deal with such annoyances. “Other students were a distraction. Half of the students didn’t want to be there and were distracting to the learning process,” says Welch.
Welch – like thousands of other drivers before him – has already decided he'll opt for online traffic school if he ever receives another traffic violation.
Online Traffic School
The popularity of online traffic schools and online defensive driving courses has some questioning the future of the traditional walk-in traffic school.
Of course, there will likely always remain the traditionalists who will swear by walk-in traffic school. But, more and more people are discovering the vast advantages of fulfilling their court requirements by completing online traffic school.
Saves time. It’s a simple fact that time is a precious commodity and most people simply don’t have enough of it. Online traffic school allows students to complete the traffic course at their own pace.
It’s easy. There’s no roll of the dice and crossing of fingers, hoping against hope that the instructor is going to be interesting and enjoyable. With online traffic schools students know they’re going to receive clear, detailed instructions and easy-to-understand, comprehensive course materials.
Questions can be answered quickly with a phone call or an email to a customer service representative.
It’s convenient. Complete traffic school anytime – wearing pajamas, lounging on the couch or in the middle of the night. It doesn’t matter. Online traffic school is generally available 24/7, allowing students to complete the course at any time.
It’s worry-free. Online schools make taking an online traffic course a breeze – students need only a computer and an Internet connection. Registering is simple and safe.
As with anything, online traffic school does have its disadvantages. In some instances, students don’t immediately get their certificate, but most online traffic schools promise next-day delivery of the certificate for an additional shipping fee. However, some counties process the completion certificate electronically and require students to simply call the court to confirm the certificate was received. A list, of counties that electronically process certificates, can be obtained by calling the court.
Those who opt for online traffic school won’t have the same advantage of being able to get immediate answers for questions they have, however online traffic schools respond in only a few hours.
Ultimately, the best way for students to decide which option is best for them is to consider each option carefully, talking with traditional traffic schools and also checking out online traffic schools.
Some people will simply not choose online traffic school because they learn best in an interactive environment such as traditional traffic school. Still others will swear by the ease and effectiveness of online traffic school.
When it comes down to it, choosing the right traffic school all depends on the student’s individual personality, needs and preferences.

Pressure Washer
Author: Samantha
The Workings of a Pressure Washer Annually, homeowners receive a heavy load of dirt, mud, foliage, as well as supplementary rubbish above their home’s pavements and driveways
Also, their automobiles are covered with road salt, mud, and grease. The most basic pressure washer will quickly transform an ordinary garden hose into a fiend which blasts away mud, grease, along with debris.
A simple pressure washer can put up to 20 times more force onto a plane in comparison to a garden hosepipe. While you look for a good pressure washer, you may wish to consider water pressure. A light pressure model will be more efficient than a garden hosepipe, however, you shouldn’t expect it to perform heavy jobs properly. A typical garden hosepipe will emit 40 pounds of water pressure per square inch, on the other hand, light duty pressure washers rate at approximately 1300 to 2000 pounds per square inch. To wash an automobile, an awning, and some deck furniture, you can use a light duty pressure washer. Pressure washers rated at 2000 - 2600 pounds per square inch are great for concrete cleaning, including mild spots, grease, and grime on bigger surfaces. Heavy duty pressure washers rate at 2700 - 4000 pounds per square inch and work effectively on obstinate grease or stains on concrete, or if you wish to clean flakes, dirt, and debris on top of surfaces in preparation for painting or sealing.
Electric Pressure Washers
Electric pressure washers are manufactured in all three levels of pounds per square inch— heavy, medium, and light duty. Ratings by one of the most well-known online vendors of pressure washer pumps, parts, and equipment do not show any preference between a gas pressure washer and an electric pressure washer. The ratings make a distinction between best, better, and good within size groups. An archetypal homemaker will get roughly all household chores done with electric pressure washers. The only problem of the electric pressure washer is that you have to find handy electrical sockets.
Gas Pressure Washers
Gas pressure washers are quite transportable, but they are also more noisy and may emit more noxious fumes whilst being used. There is also the inconvenience of storing gas while the gadget is used. These pressure washers are available in light duty, medium duty, and heavy duty models, along with a still heavier and more powerful contractors’ model. Honda pressure washers rate above average in gas pressure washers, with better and best ratings for both mid-sized and large sized capacity washers.
Honda pressure washers captured all three categories in the contractor’s model. A Ryobi pressure washer is another favorite of home users. Its heavy duty range (3000 pounds per square inch) is pretty affordable plus it will do most jobs with a vengeance. A pressure washer from Ryobi is available at Home Depot shops, and this is another plus factor in its favor.
Hot Water Pressure Washer
Another great novelty in pressure washers is the new hot water pressure washer. You should utilize this tool for stubborn grime. Heated pressure washers are more difficult to find, however, Honda makes portable high capacity oil-fired hot water pressure washers. Mi-T-M makes high capacity electrically heated hot water pressure washers.
Whichever type of residential pressure system you select, you must be sure that the vendor also carries a full range of pressure washer pumps and parts. It will be really annoying to be right in the midst of fall or spring cleaning and be forced to wait\ stop for the replacement of a part or a pump.

Keeping it Simple: Straight Talk about Dressings for Rubber, Plastic
Author: Scott Ellis - Jax Wax
Ever roll into your local auto parts store to get some car care supplies, for example - dressings for tires, trim or your interior? With the vast array of products available, it is confusing to say the very least!
Considering your choices, combined with all slick packaging, hard to see sizes, and pretty pictures – all these products are competing for your hard earned dollars. The result is confusion of what product to buy for what application. Do you use the same product to dress and protect tires as you do for your leather seats?
Let’s keep it simple, folks! This isn’t rocket science - we’re talking about dressings here. Hopefully this article will give you some insight into the choosing the right product for the right job.
Basically, there are two kinds of dressings – Water Based Dressings and Solvent Based Dressings. So look at what we’ve done here – grouped all of the dressings into two options. I don’t know about you, but I can get my arms around 2 choices pretty easy. We all like keeping things simple.
Both Water Based and Solvent Based dressings have their rightful place and use, and have different properties, pros and cons. In keeping with our “simple” theme and as a general rule of thumb, here’s the skinny: Use Water Based dressings on the inside of your ride and Solvent Based dressings on the outside. Pretty simple, isn’t it?
Why the inside / outside choice, you ask? Simple! When water hits a Water Based Dressing – it tends to fall down, fall apart, poof – gone. Water Based Dressings generally don’t stand up to the elements as well as Solvent Based Dressings do.
Solvent Based Dressings tend to repel water, much like water beading from a waxed finish on your car. In my opinion, Solvent Based Dressings also give a more rich, luster-like finish and do an excellent job of bringing back the fading of vinyl and rubber typically seen on the outside of your vehicle. The bottom line is that Solvent Based Dressings are longer lasting and more durable when constantly exposed to the elements.
- A little more detail about Water Based Dressings
Most of the dressings available at retail stores come in a ready to use formula. The downside of this is, if you don’t like the particular finish of these products, you are stuck with it. For example, you might want a more of a matte finish instead of an out-of-bottle glossy finish a product might provide. You figure, since it’s water based, you should dull it down with water, right? Not so.
Most of these dressings aren’t designed to be mixed with water, and now you have worthless bottle. As well, we have all had the experience when these dressings really never dry to the touch and become a big dust magnet. Well, you figure, so much for dressing and protecting your interior, right? Not so!
Water Based Dressings that the professionals use actually dry to the touch AND are designed to be mixed with water to give you the exact finish you desire. But the best part is they don’t usually cost any more than their retail counterparts!
- A little more about Solvent Based Dressings
Solvent Based Dressings tend to do a better job at restoring faded trim and plastic, offer excellent UV protection and are easy to apply. To get the finish you want, instead of diluting these products like Water Based Dressings, simply wipe the dressing on with an applicator to get your desired finish. More equals a higher gloss, less a lower gloss. For those who want a high-gloss finish on their tires, simply spray the dressing on and let it dry. For those who prefer a lower gloss, wipe the dressing while wet to get their desired finish.
In addition to tires, a good Solvent Based Dressing can also be used to dress and protect all of the rubber, plastic and vinyl trim on the outside of your ride.
- Lastly, one more Specialty Dressing – a cleaner and conditioner in one
There is one more category of dressings that should be mentioned here – a cleaner and conditioner combined. For example, one of the most delicate interior surfaces of your ride is leather. The key to keeping leather nice is delicate cleaning and proper conditioning to keep it supple and protected.
Check this out for simple - wipe the product on and then wipe it off. In most cases, these specialty products are also scented like leather.
Summary
Don’t let all the choices and hype about dressings confuse you. Use Solvent Based dressings for the outside, Water Based Dressings for treating and protecting the inside and consider Specialty Dressings for cleaning and conditioning delicate surfaces such as leather.

1. Learn how to drive efficiently by avoiding sudden acceleration or braking and aggressive driving. According to stats you can save as much as 33% on freeways and 5% in urban environments on gas by adopting safe driving practices; this in figures means USD 0.12-0.76 per gallon in savings.
2. Always observe the set speed limits. And find out what the optimal fuel economy for your vehicle is. The general consensus is that for every 5mph over 60mph just means spending more of fuel, almost USD 0.20 per gallon.
3. Never resort to using your vehicle as a dumpster or storage space. Imagine an extra 100 pounds in your car will reduce your MPG by over 2%. So, get rid of the junk or store it elsewhere.
4. Idling that is running the engine when stand still wastes fuel. So, think twice before leaving the engine running while you dash into a nearby store.
5. Use cruise control when driving on a freeway. It saves gas and helps the car run at a steady speed.

Fuel is a precious commodity and if we do not learn how to conserve we can look forward to a future when fuel supplies run out.
Fuel is a precious commodity and if we do not learn how to conserve we can look forward to a future when fuel supplies run out. As a caring eco-friendly citizen it is important for you to save fuel and learn how to use your vehicle efficiently and reduce the amount of gas you use.
6. Learn all about overdrive gearing this is an established way to save fuel.

Car Warranties
Author: Frank Ragano
Acquiring a car involves manufacturers warranty with after sales service. Equipping with adequate knowledge about the car warranty, its functions, and various schemes prior to purchasing a car is essential. Old and used cars need extended warranty to cover the cost of repairs and replacement of part
Buying a new car warrants paying close attention to the type of warranty that comes with the vehicle. Normally, manufacturers give warranty ranging from one to ten years depending on the type of vehicle and its price. Some combine the miles along with the timeframe like one year or 50,000 miles whichever occurs first. Car warranties are extremely important because one may experience mechanical breakdowns involving repairing or replacement of defective parts. If the vehicle you are purchasing is not covered under warranty then you have to shell out money from your pocket, leading to huge amounts at rare occasions. There are different types of car warranties and it is very difficult for a common man to understand all of them perfectly. However, one has to know them thoroughly in order to resolve any issues arising out of car warranties. A bumper to bumper warranty covers all parts excluding the parts which are prone to wear and tear.Basic car warranty covers all the parts like a ‘bumper to bumper’ warranty excluding parts that undergo wear and tear like car tyres, break shoes, wiper oil filters, etc. Some companies offer warranties for tyres and batteries as a part of basic warranty. Certain parts like emission components require coverage to certain specified time according to federal rules.
Drivetrain or Powertrain warranties cover parts like car engine, transmission components, axles and other parts that are crucial for mobility. Generally this type of warranty excludes wear and tear parts. However, parts like bearings and pistons that are often subjected to wear and tear are also covered under this type of warranties.A Roadside Assistance is a service provided by most car manufacturers and dealers to help you in case you get stranded with your car due to some mechanical problems. Whenever you encounter such problems mid-way during your journey inform a nearby dealer, who will send a break down vehicle with required accessories. All these manufacturers’ warranties expire once the coverage period is over. Who will pay for the maintenance and replacement of spares after the expiry of manufacturer’s warranty? These are the questions often arising in the mind of every car buyer. Extended car warranties and third party car warranties come into rescue in such situations.Normally, extended car warranties are provided by the dealers or any warranty companies. These companies offer various plans to cover new as well as used cars. Extended car warranties work like an insurance coverage. Whenever there is an unforeseen expenditure to your car, you don’t have to dip in your packet, extended car warranty will take care of it. You have to purchase an extended warranty for your car when the manufacturers warranty expires. Some extended car warranties work like service contracts covering only labor charges, and you may have to pay for the parts if any replaced.
In majority of the cases all major repairs occur after the expiry of manufacturer’s warranty. Before buying an extended warranty for your car, you need to consider following factors. Whether the extended warranty covers normal wear and tear failures, whether tubes and gaskets are covered under such warranty, whether malfunctioning and damages of parts due to overheating is covered, whether any deduction is allowed, whether you can repair your vehicle at any repairing shop and then make your claims with the claim administrator.

Why I support buying a police car at auction
Author: Mark R Gittelman
Most law enforcement departments have very tight maintenance schedules for their fleet. So the vehicles are well maintained on top of being constructed using heavy-duty parts.
In this article I am going to discuss police car auctions and gsa auctions. GSA is an abbreviated term for general service administration or better known as U.S. government auctions.
But lets start with a subject I enjoy. I love to buy and drive old police cars (like the blues brothers). Why do I like police cars?
Well I have worked on many in my day and currently I am working on sheriff dept and county vehicles. A police car is built with heavy-duty parts.
This is what I love about police car auctions. You get well-maintained vehicles with heavy-duty parts.
First what parts are heavy duty. Well this varies from each manufacture. But in most cases we are talking about heavy-duty belts, hoses, beefed up suspensions with heavy-duty power train components and heavy sway bars, links, shocks and commercial grade floor mats instead of carpeting.
The vehicle is constructed for pedal to the metal performance and handling. My favorite police car of all time is the 96 Chevy caprice.
In my professional opinion this was the cream of the crop in heavy-duty police car manufacturing. The 1996 Chevy caprice police interceptor was built with the corvette LT1 engine with a 4 bolt main block and all the heavy-duty hoses and accessories that GM could find.
This police interceptor had 16-inch tires and Gm’s 3.73 or even 4.11 positraction rear differential. The engine included gm’s most powerful high-energy ignition system and dual exhaust to help let the LT1 350 V8 breath.
The electrical system was also upgraded with a high out put alternator, Gear reduction high torque starter and extra capacity dual battery's to help handle all the electronics you would find on a police car.
The package was very well balanced. It was fast and handled great. I have driven these cars many times and lets just say I would smile the whole time.
I worked for a Chevy dealership in 1996 and performed warranty repairs on these vehicles. I had a police officer tell me a great story.
His department had half crown vics and half caprices. When they would patrol on I 295 in New Jersey they would sometimes get into high-speed pursuit situations.
He described in great detail how he would blow by the crown vics that had wide open throttle with his caprice not even at 75% throttle.
The officers in this department would fight over the caprices and the loser's got the Fords. The caprice I speak of can still be found at some gsa auctions and other police car auctions.
The Chevy police car reached its peak in 1996. Then Chevy got out of the police car game for a couple of years because they killed the full frame Chevy caprice all together.
This left GM with no police car platform. Ford dominated the market for many years. Gm has since got back in the game with its lame 6cyl Chevy impala. Now it’s the Fords that blow by the Chevy’s
Also Doge has come back into the police car competition with its hemi powered rear wheel drive dodge charger police interceptor. And Chevrolet has added a super charger to its underpowered entry. So we will have to see who winds up on top of the competition in the near future.
Gsa handles federal acquisition and procurement for equipment and supplies to various government agencies. Meaning they buy and sell the equipment that all levels of government use in the name of public service.
